Jesi Stracham's Story
Spinal Cord Injury
“She is an amazing young woman with an unequaled zest for life, never letting her physical condition get in the way of tackling what she wants to accomplish.”
— Jesi Stracham
Jesi Stracham was the passenger on a motorcycle that collided with a car on January 18, 2015. She woke up a week later in the ICU without the use of her legs.
She was the second patient in the world to try an experimental spinal cord implant from InVivo Therapeutics. Because her legs are paralyzed, she uses the Wearable Therapy™ suit to exercise her muscles and keep her in the best possible health.
The therapy has reduced muscle loss in her glutes and thighs, plus reduced spasms and nerve pain.
Jesi founded the Wheel With Me Foundation, a non-profit for wheelchair users. She created a fitness app for wheelchair users, competes in Tough Mudders including World's Toughest Mudder, and races modified ATVs — never letting her physical condition get in the way of tackling what she wants to accomplish.
